Vintage Art Deco porcelain figurine of a woman battling the wind (often referred to as a “windswept lady”), holding onto her wide-brimmed hat.
These figures were predominantly produced in Germany (by historic Thuringia factories such as Wallendorf Porzellan or Fasold & Stauch) as well as in Occupied Japan in the post-WWII era.
Design era: high Art Deco styling from the 1930s to 1940s, with a real sense of movement captured in the flowing white dress, hand-painted facial features and subtle gold accents on the shoes and trim.
The figure has great movement and grace, and in spite of its age is in great condition.
Standing at a height of 17cm.
