Vintage Ceramic Black Cat Shaped Whistle Egg Cup, Germany, 1920s

This unique object is a vintage ceramic whistle egg cup modelled as a black cat. Dating back to the 1920s, these novelty items typically feature a hollow body to hold a boiled egg, paired with an integrated whistle functioning as the cat’s tail.

Many of these pieces were manufactured in Germany for the British market and often carry a circular stamp on the base reading “Foreign”.

This unique antique item functions beautifully. There are no cracks or chips, but a little paint loss, as can be seen by careful inspection of the pictures. It’s certainly a talking point and very hard to find!
