Vintage Creigiau Copper Lustre Pottery Vase, Unusual Design, Welsh Studio Art (Tall)

A small vintage Creigiau pottery vase with an unusual design. Copper lustre finish in very good condition. Hand made.

Reg and Jean Southcliffe set up the Southcliffe Ceramic Company in Creigiau near Cardiff in Wales in 1947; a year later they changed the name to Creigiau Pottery. They produced earthenware with incised decoration and a greyish glaze partially covering the brown body and throwing the design into relief. The pottery produced up until 1983. They also made this distinctive copper lustre ware.
